Liam Thijs

Rock climber

Born in Hong Kong, 1997 Liam has an international background having lived throughout South-America and Asia with his parents. Once settled in Belgium he got interested in climbing in 2008 when watching the Peter Beliën memorial competition and the Arco Masters in Italy. It didn’t take long before he started climbing, making quick progress. His talent was noticed when in 2012 he came in second both at the Belgian lead and boulder youth competition class B. After competing for two years in the ifsc circuit he started focusing on outdoor bouldering. Nowadays he rarely enters a national competition and spends most of his days on the rocks in Fontainebleau, Val Daone, etc… He is a route setter for competitions, trainer and occasionally opens new routes. Furthermore he’s studying to become a physiotherapist with a keen interest in climbing obviously. 🙂
