Meet the PINCH by Edelrid – a radically new approach to assisted braking for climbers who demand more from their belay device. Designed for sport climbing, multi-pitch missions, and rope access, the PINCH is the first of its kind: it can be mounted directly to your harness's central ring for maximum control — or simply clipped in with a carabiner if that’s what you’re used to. Mounting directly to your harness keeps the device close to your body and gives you full control of the brake rope at all times — no awkward handling, no compromises. This configuration allows for smooth rope handling without needing to fix the device when feeding slack. The result? You can give out up to 30 cm more rope in one go — ideal for dynamic belaying or fast lead climbers.

Thanks to its linear rope path and steel braking grooves, the PINCH minimizes tangling and rope wear, even when lowering or rappelling. Thin or soft ropes? No problem. Braking force is easily modulated by hand pressure alone, or by using the lowering lever — all with a built-in anti-panic function for added security. The clever second braking tier kicks in when working with lighter climbers or high-friction setups, preventing abrupt stops or unwanted locking.
