After reading the Anderson Brothers Training manual, and reading around the subject quite a bit, I decided to upgrade my hangboard from a Beastmaker 1000 series to the RPTC - I wanted to exploit the pinches and ability to shift the lateral position of the board over time, so have set up on a fixed board with a 45 degree slot in mechanism - works well, and is well balanced.
The material of the board is quite smooth for plastic - i has some trepidation moving from wood, worries it would kill my skin for actual climbing, bit after 3 45 min sessions over 2 week, things are not so bad.
Installation was easy - lots of guides and how to's online (if you need them) - took about half an hour (had already bolted a think oak board above my door from the previous hangboard, so the majority of the mounting drilling was already done.
There is a definite difficulty / entry level step up from the beastmaker 1000 - i have had to use resistance bands and my harness to be able to compete the 'beginner' training sessions - and am having to definitely leave a full rest day following said sessions (no sneaking off to the climbing gym the afternoon after!). The protocol is basic repeaters, but on alot of differing grip types - Lattice training recently ran a video discussing the best protocols to use, and placed the Anderson Brothers method quite low on the scale (saying it was too hard/needed too much recovery), which was disheartening, but understandable.
For those worried about importing to the UK and costs / customs / time - The hangboard took 5 days to arrive, and import/customs fees. where about £30 - the courier (DPD) sent me an email to pay the costs when the package arrived in the uk, and as soon as I paid, the package was dispatched and arrived the next day - Worked out cheaper than buying from UK stockists (buy about £50!).
