Description

The Progressive Pulling System is a lever bar that shifts your bodyweight from two arms to one, in steps of 5%.
It is for climbers who can already do clean pull-ups and want a measurable path to a one-arm pull-up.

What this solves
The jump from a two-arm to a one-arm pull-up is too big to train directly. Bands, towels or a finger in a sling help, but you never know how much.

How this solves it
The bar hangs from a single anchor. Move the anchor one hole toward an arm and that arm carries 5% more of your bodyweight. As long as the bar stays level, the split is exact: 55/45, 60/40, all the way to 100/0.

Why this tool

  • 21 positions from 50% to 100% per arm, printed on the bar
  • Built-in feedback: the bar tilts as soon as the assist arm helps too much
  • Train left and right at exactly the same load
  • No weights or bands needed

Swap the grips
Instead of the included handles, you can attach other grips such as grip logs, a Canonball or cylinder grips. That way you train pulling strength and grip strength in the same exercise.

Best for
Intermediate / Advanced: climbers who can do several clean pull-ups and want to work toward a one-arm pull-up.

What's in the box
Main metal plate, carabiners, handles, rope

How it works

Move the anchor.
Shift the load.

Hang the bar from the centre hole and each arm carries 50%. Every hole you move sideways adds 5% of your bodyweight to one arm, all the way to 100%: a full one-arm pull-up.

  • Exact load on every rep

The bar hangs from one point. To stay level, the forces have to balance, so the arm closer to the anchor carries more. The number on the bar is your load.

  • Cheating is impossible

Pull harder with the easy arm and the bar tilts straight away. You see it immediately, so you can't fool yourself.

  • 21 settings, 5% apart

From 50/50 to a full one-arm pull-up in ten steps per side. Train left and right at exactly the same load and track real progress.

How to use it

The bar is your feedback. Here the anchor sits at 70 on the right, so the right arm carries 70% and the left arm 30%.

✓Start from a dead hang

Set the anchor, hang with straight arms and let the bar settle level. Your body shifts a little toward the anchor side.

✓Pull with the bar level

The hard arm does the work. The assist arm only helps as much as the setting allows. A level bar means the split is exact.

✕Bar tilts down on the easy side

The assist arm pulls more than its share, and you are back to a near 50/50 pull-up. Ease off until the bar is level, or move the anchor one hole back.

✕Kicking or swinging

Momentum takes load off the hard arm. Start every rep from a still hang and keep your legs quiet.

  • 1. Find your hole

Start at the hole where you can do 5 clean reps per arm with the bar level. Can't? Move one hole toward the centre.

  • 2. Train both arms

Do 3 to 4 sets of 3 to 5 reps per arm at the same setting, with 2 to 3 minutes rest. Two sessions a week is enough.

  • 3. Move one hole out

When every set reaches 5 clean reps on both arms, move the anchor one hole further out: 5% more on the working arm.

  • 4. Reach 100

At 100 the assist arm carries nothing. That is a full one-arm pull-up.

Questions

How is this different from a resistance band?

A band helps most at the bottom and least at the top, and you never know exactly how much. The Progressive Pulling System keeps the same split through the whole rep, and the bar shows you when it is off.

Do I need to be able to do pull-ups?

Yes. The centre hole is a normal two-arm pull-up, and every step out makes it harder. If you can't do a few clean pull-ups yet, start with regular pull-up training.

Can I train both arms?

Yes. Move the anchor to the same number on the other side. Train both arms at the same setting to keep them balanced.

How do I know the split is right?

Keep the bar level. As long as it does not tilt, the number on the bar is the real share of your bodyweight on that arm.

What do I hang it from?

Any pull-up bar, beam or ceiling anchor that safely holds your bodyweight, with enough height to hang with straight arms.
